Church Construction

When the House Church has 10 baptized adult members, it becomes Worship Group. As the membership grows to 25 it qualifies to have a temporary shed which is built with the help of the local believers. This type of building is called Type 1 church. The necessity of better church building arises when the membership grows to 50. To build a church, a piece of land with minimum 2,400 square (60*40) feet area is needed. Local believers donate land for construction. If there is no such provision, lands are bought. The church believers fill the church construction form and send as per procedure. When the land is registered legally in the name of the Society/ Diocese the form will be accepted and church construction will be initiated as per the availability of funds. Type 1 church costs Rs. 5 lakhs. For a worship group with 50 members, Semi Pakka church, called as Type 2 church, will be constructed. To build a Semi Pakka church having asbestos or Tiles or tin sheets as its roof, in 600 square feet, costs Rs. 7.10 lakhs per sqftt Rs=850(Aspestoss sheet)and concrete Rs=1250per sqftt. The local believers extend their voluntary help of watering and manual laboring during the construction. When the church membership crosses 100, a permanent structure is constructed with RCC roofing. This Type 3 church costs Rs.6.80 lakhs and the church membership crosses above 150, a permanent structure is constructed with RCC roofing. This type 4 church costs RS. 8.50 lakhs with concrete 1250x1200.

New fields

If any endeavour has to be successful, it needs to be ‘surveyed’. Survey can be likened to buying a plot of land. The aspect of the land needs to be observed and measured. Documents need to be scrutinized and experts consulted before the land is finally bought. Survey is vital to the selection of new mission fields. Before a missionary is assigned to a new area, a team of leaders visit the area, gather information like the geographical location, religious background, culture and language of the people, number of Christians in the region, churches (if any) and whether any other Mission is already working there. Next, the survey team identifies a suitable village where a missionary can be placed.

Apart from church planting, the team discovers whether the target people have the Bible in their heart language. If the area is disease prone, the need for medical missionaries and equipment is identify. Field Events: On many of our mission fields, the tribal people have numerous festivals, both cultural and religious. Many of them are harmless while some are in direct contradiction to the Word of God. So when the people turn to the Lord and want to follow Him whole heartedly, they have to make the difficult decision of breaking away from celebrating these festivals the fun and frolic that is involved. Christianity is not a kill-joy religion

Our missionaries teach them about the celebration involved in major Christian celebrations like Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. Apart from these, they also have Field conventions, Jungle Camps, Women’s conventions, Youth conventions and so on where people come together for a short period of time for fellowship, good singing and of course the teaching of the Word. So even as the people enjoy each others presence, they are also learning from the Word and thereby they are built up in their faith.

A Church in Every Village According to God’s plan, and by His grace service bands have been organized in 165 villages by 466 local evangelists. Believers in these villages gather to pray under trees, in huts or in open space. During rainy season and in hot summer, there is no proper place for prayer these days, when the number of believers are rising. They do not need tall-towered churches. All that they need is a 40x20 sq.ft. roofed room. By God’s grace, we have been able to build 86 churches. Thanks be to the Lord.

Kindly pray for the churches to be built in the villages in 5 states. Pray for the growth of the village congregations also. Many have contributed towards the building of churches but they have requested us not to reveal their names. One family in the mission field in Orissa have contributed towards building 3 churches. Who among us is ready to contribute to build Churches in 100 villages? You too can contribute as much as you can Rs.1,00,000/- (one lakh), Rs.2,00,000/- (two lakhs) Rs.3,00,000/- (three lakhs) for building a village church. Asbestos sheet building per sqftt Rs =850 and concrete rate per sqftt Rs= 1250.

You can offer to build on behalf of your family. You can offer to build on behalf of your church. You can offer to build on behalf of your mission. You can join with your relatives and friends and together you can build a church. You can help build a church as a votive offering when God blesses you in building a house or in arranging marriages. “Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house: and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, said the Lord.” Haggai 1:8
